The Archana Sharma Foundation of Calcutta or ASFC, a society registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961, was founded by Professor Arun Kumar Sharma in 2009 in the Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, Kolkata. Since then, the society has been functioning from the Department of Botany, University of Calcutta as a non-profitable organization.
- The Archana Sharma Foundation of Calcutta (ASFC) was registered on 16th September 2009 in the memory of Professor (Mrs.) Archana Sharma after her demise on 14th January 2008.
- ASFC was founded mainly to publish the journal The Nucleus with Springer-Nature (then Springer) Publications Pvt. Ltd., India & Germany as the co-publisher. The other activities include academic initiatives to promote and disseminate knowledge and to be a part of social welfare programme with regard to educating children from economically underprivileged section.
- The society regularly conducts four Governing Body Meetings round the year and an Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year. During AGM, ASFC publishes its yearly activities and future plans in the ASFC Newsletter.
